TORONTO - Canada's main stock index posted a triple-digit advance in late-morning trading, boosted by a broad-based rally, while U.S. markets also pushed higher.
The S&P/TSX composite index was up 150.09 points at 15,554.22.
In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was up 171.01 points at 25,550.46. The S&P 500 index was up 22.44 points at 2,791.22, while the Nasdaq composite was up 70.51 points at 7,555.65.
The Canadian dollar traded lower at 76.28 cents US compared with an average of 76.59 cents US on Thursday.
The December crude contract was up 93 cents at US$69.64 per barrel and the November natural gas contract was up 2.9 cents at US$3.23 per mmBTU.
The December gold contract was down 70 cents at US$1,229.40 an ounce and the December copper contract was up 2.60 cents at US$2.77 a pound.
