TORONTO -- An executive at the company whose employs striking ground crews at Canada's busiest airport says there were no major delays Sunday afternoon.
Swissport issued a statement Sunday evening indicating that the company's efforts to move passengers and luggage in and out of Toronto's Pearson airport is "working well."
Swissport provides ground crew for 30 of Pearson's 74 airlines, including Air Transat, Air France, and Sunwing.
Both the company and the Teamsters, which represents the 700 striking workers were watching operations closely Sunday given that all 30 airlines serviced by Swissport would have flights coming in.
The workers went on strike on Thursday due to pay and benefits cuts.
A spokesman for the union says it's too early to tell if there were any disruptions on Sunday.
The union said there were delays on moving baggage on Friday, but the company called it a hiccup.
